"And that sweet City with her dreaming spires..."
Yet another great thing about living in the Cotswolds is our proximity to the beautiful city of Oxford.
I have very fond memories of Oxford, and my visits have varied widely - from singing in Christ Church Cathedral as a schoolgirl, and spending very fun {very drunken} weekends with my friend in her college; to walking around hand-in-hand with Mr MM as we take in the sights, meeting up with friends of ours who have decided to call this marvellous place home.
We were therefore very excited to be meeting up with friends of ours for afternoon tea at The Folly, a delightful river cafe perched on the edge of the Thames. We spotted students punting leisurely along the river as we crossed over one of the bridges, with the tall spires of the churches and colleges winking behind us in the late October sun.
We exchanged news and stories as we scoffed back sandwiches, scones and pastries - the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon, I'm sure you'll agree?
With full bellies, we took a stroll around Christ Church Meadow as the sun began to set.
Christ Church itself is well worth a look around - especially if you're a Harry Potter fan! In fact, try and pop into as many colleges as you can; it's the ideal way to soak up the wonderful atmosphere of this world-famous city.
And if you're there, you may as well come down and visit our neck of the woods too!
Satisfied we'd caught up with enough gossip for now, we hugged our friends goodbye and set off for our car.
And what a farewell we had from Oxford...
