I absolutely love smoothies.
They're such a great breakfast option - you can blend them up the night before if you've got a busy day ahead, you can throw in whatever fruit and veg you've got available, and you can switch up the flavours depending on your mood.
Although the Skin-Boost Smoothie tends to be my go-to in the mornings, I do like to try out different ingredients and recipes, discovering delicious new combinations. When I achieve my dream of publishing a cookery book {in my mind it will be a general 'lifestyle' book, with recipes, interiors, health and beauty - an aim to add to the bucket list}, there will definitely be a whole section dedicated to smoothies - and I hope to feature some more on the blog over the next few weeks!
This one however is particularly yummy. Fruity, chocolatey and rich, it tastes like a proper treat for breakfast - and yet it's packed full of good stuff, no added sugar, and no additives. Just fruit, veg and natural ingredients to keep you, your gut, your skin and your hair healthy. What have you got to lose?
I use this blender to make my smoothies and it works brilliantly {pictured below} - you want a pretty good blender to chomp through all the berries and spinach leaves, and to make it smooth and creamy.
If you give this one a go, let me know what you think! Share your pics on Instagram or Twitter - I'd love to hear your thoughts on it...
Ingredients - Makes 1 smoothie
1 ripe banana
1 handful frozen blueberries
1 handful frozen raspberries
1 handful frozen spinach
1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
1 sachet VSL#3 probiotic - optional {I've only recently started taking these sachets daily, but once I've given them a good trial, I will share my thoughts on the blog}
1 tsp coconut oil
1 handful pumpkin seeds
150ml water
Equipment
Blender
Measuring cups
Method
1. Add all ingredients to blender.
2. Blend until smooth and creamy.
